Hi all you health geeks! Since so many of you are walking textbooks, I’m putting a few questions out there. If you know answers, please pipe up! I’d love to hear your thoughts. : )
So this last week - week 1 of my 12 week challenge - I’ve had terrible breath. I’m hoping it’s a good sign my body is detoxifying as it metabolises fat for fuel. I suppose this new plan is a bit of a kick in the liver, I’m eating very clean. I’ve also been drinking a lot of dandelion tea and lots of water and exercising every day. I brush my teeth morning and night. Any ideas? If not, I’m keeping my peppermint essential oil in my handbag, great for combating bad breath, although… the whole office starts smelling fresh… haha…
Over the past few months, my temperature has been consistently low, so Robyn (my naturopath) has started me on a trace amount of iodine. It’s supposed to help support thyroid function. Has anyone used it before? Had any success? Dangers?
Thanks everyone!
Louise

I've finally overcome my destructive eating habits by learning to accept myself, applying the WAPF nutritional principles daily. I'm now at a stable, healthy, slim weight, have lots of energy and no more guilt. I've been happily married for 7 years and am a graphic designer. In the near future I'm hoping to start a nutritional course and start practicing as a qualified nutritionist. At the moment it's all self education.

Id recomend just eating plenty of Nori/kelp as its naturally got high levels of iodine, can be a bit risky using iodine as a pure supplement.
As for bad breath, try liquid chlorophyll from health food store. Eva K’s or Natures Sunshine are the best I have seen, the grants one is cheaper but less potent.
I did a detox once and for some wierd reason got bad breath and body odour and the chlorophyll worked a treat.
Eating loads of parsley is also good as its high in chlorophyll.
Just be wary if you do ask for at a health food store to get the name right, ive had lotsa my customers ask me for chloroform before by mistake !

Thanks Jad, me too… whenever I detox I turn into a very smelly person! Gross, but true! I’ve been eating fresh parsley every day, but I’ll step it up. Ta for the tip about the chlorophyll, I’ll give that a try too. Why does that work? As a liver cleanser?
As for the iodine, I have one drop in a glass of water, each day I have one tablespoon of the water. I do have some kelp powder at home, but it tastes foul unless I add it to food.

off the top of my foggy cold ridden head i think chlorophyll helps bind up certain odourous molecules, i seem to remember reading its even used in tablet form in hospitals for bed riden elderly patients that have difficulty washing properly.
It also facilitates part of the livers detox pathways, i cant remember how thought,
http://www.lef.org im pretty sure has plenty of info on it. They are a great resource when you need info on supplements.
