What is your beauty regime? Mine is very simple.
1. Scrub body all over with a long handled brush in the shower (no soap just warm water)
2. Use a scrub cream that I made (homemade moisturiser with coffee grounds) on my face
3. Wash my hair with natural (ie no petrochemicals etc) conditioner every 4 days (or more)
4. Dry off and tone face with witch hazel and moisturise my body and face with my own moisturiser
I never use shampoo! No never!
I used to have curly unmanageable crazy frizzy fluff for hair. It would get oily at the drop of a hat and flyaway like crazy. If I wanted to control it I’d spend hours with the hair dryer and numerous hair products. As I was on a quest to eliminate as many toxins in my environment as possible, in my search for natural solutions I stumbled across this site.

So far it’s been over six months using the ‘curly girl method’ and there is no going back. All I do is scrub my scalp all over with conditioner instead of shampoo, rinse thoroughly and condition the ends as normal. My hair is shiny and more manageable than ever before. “The curly-haired can leave their hair hydrated with natural oils and clean their scalps quite well by rinsing only with hair conditioner once a week or less. Rubbing the scalp firmly with fingers is enough to loosen dirt.” If you have curly hair, you know what a drama it can be! But this technique can work equally well for straight hair.
If you are going to try this, give your hair time to adjust. It may take a few weeks and could look worse at first. After that it becomes less and less oily because you are not constantly stripping the natural oils away from the scalp causing an over production. Follow the wash with a cool rinse and let your hair dry naturally. When it dries slowly the hair clumps together instead of fluffing to a frizzy ball. I wrap mine in a micro fibre towel and leave it on all night, in the morning it’s only damp with lots of curls. I just take it off and go to work, no styling necessary! Avoid brushing your hair when it is wet and use a wide tooth comb if you must to detangle. I don’t brush mine at all except right before I wash it. There’s a straight forward ‘how to’ here.
I love how my hair looks now! Hope this helps other curly nourishers out there!

HI Lousie,
firstly, wow, is that you in the pic - you look beautiful :)
I really love reading ALL your posts! i love your openess and honesty about what your doing. I think its fabulous. Thank you :)
I am going to try the curly girl method now - i did go for several weeks, about 7 in fact without using any product, shampoo or conditioner at all, and i waited and waited and my hair just got worse and worse, greasy that is. That was back in January. Since then Ive been using an egg wash as a conditioning treatment once a week or so, which i leave in 30mins and my hair always comes out beautiful and soft. however once a week just isn’t enough to keep it looking and feeling good, so ive been using miracle soap as a wash as well, once or twice per week. I rarely brush my hair now and it does form nice curls - although sometimes i feel i would prefer it if it looked a bit more styled sometimes….. so thats why i will try the curly girl method and see how it goes ;)
Hows your warrior diet going? i am always intrigued to see what works for other people and love hearing the tales of your journey. I have come from a similar background as you so sometimes it feels like you are exploring things that i would, or are feeling the same thoughts as me which makes your posts all the more satisfying to read. keep it up, i love it! take care, Soph

Thanks Sophie! I wanted to show a piccie of my hair. I’ve got no product in it, just let it do it’s thing naturally. Sometimes if I want more volume I turn my head upside down and use a diffuser with the hairdryer on a really low setting and some mousse, if you put mousse or gel in when your hair is still wet, it doesn’t get that ‘crunchy’ feeling. Or I’ll dry it off until it’s damp and put it into a bun right on the top of my head and sleep in it. When I take out the bun in the morning there’s more height at the roots and soft smooth waves instead of tighter curls. Just for a change!
Also, thank you for your support, it’s nice to know I’m entertaining someone other than myself!
The Warrior Diet is going well, almost two weeks. I’ve not lost any weight on the scale (checked today) but I’ve lost a centimetre from my thighs and half a centimetre from my bust, waist, hips and calves, so I must be gaining some muscle! Woot! I did a few really tough workouts last week and I’m glad it’s starting to show. I was so STUCK for ages at this terrible plateau, where nothing I did helped me to gain muscle and lose fat! Very frustrating. Getting into shape is sometimes confusing! I’m determined to stick with the WD for a while, so far promising results and I don’t worry about food anymore, it’s so satisfying.

Hey a fellow No-pooer! I use Sodium Bicarb (baking soda) to scrub my scalp followed by an Apple cider rinse. I recently stopped buying face wash too and now only use S.B. (sodium bicarb) on my face with a little lavender essential oil. For my body I use some Dr. Bronners. As a deodorant I use tea tree oil and lavender. I don’t use make up anymore because it’s not necessary and it’s just more containers to throw away. My cosmetics are cheap and simple and I feel more beautiful than ever! By the way, your hair looks lovely!

Hee hee! I tried the bi-carb so a while, but found it made my hair a bit dry. I do the cider rinse when my hair starts looking a bit ratty, too much sun etc. I use tea tree as deoderant too! I’ve also made a hair shine spray which is water, lavender ess oil and a tsp of glycerine, smells lovely, controls frizz too. I LOVE making my own beauty supplies. My friends think it’s a lavish treat when I make them some too… but they’re so cheap and easy to make!
